This interdisciplinary, process-based work encompasses physical interventions on Lorenzo’s vocal chords with voice lessons, and will expand to a series of public performances in Red State legislative and civic locations to explore tensions between private transformation and public protest. 

Queer-femme artist Sarah Van Dyck, equipped with a background in classical music and opera, gives trans*queer artist Lorenzo Triburgo singing lessons with Whitney Houston as their guide. The lessons began when they stopped taking testosterone after 10 years of “transgender hormone therapy,” as an attempt to embody gender liberation.

The driving force behind The Greatest Love are the ongoing attacks on the civil rights of transgender people by the Trump administration and by state-level legislative efforts.
